Tutoring since college when students would request my services, I've been a private Spanish 2 and 3 tutor for two years and teach up to level 4. First, I learn about the individual student's personality. It is gratifying to help them see their strengths and intelligence, gain confidence, and feel empowered by conquering challenges. I long for that "ah ha" moment. My students often quickly go from being frustrated to making sense of the concepts that troubled them.Anecdotes and details about my times in Spain add something extra to tutoring sessions. I offer tips on pronunciation and include anything that makes the subject matter relevant. Half Spanish and half American, I graduated with a Foreign Languages B.A. degree from Mt. St. Mary's University. The United States is my birthplace, but from eight years old until almost the end of college, I lived in Spain, Brazil, and Korea. This exposed me to various cultures and expanded my knowledge of Spanish and Spanish-speaking cultures. From early on, I would simplify things with charts and diagrams, which helped a great deal in communicating with students. In my spare time I enjoy Latin dancing. I like music, reading, and eating out with friends and family.
